Many colors / Muitas cores

That's one of the paintings of Leonid Afremov:  "First Snow", oil on canvas. He was born in 1955 and is a Russia-Israeli modern impressionistic artist.
The painting is so lightful and colorful, and, at least in me, it arises very happy feelings.
Essa é uma das pinturas de Leonid Afremov:  "Primeira neve", óleo sobre tela.  Ele nasceu em 1955 e é um artista Russo-Israelense impressionista atual .
A pintura é tão iluminada e colorida, e, pelo menos em mim, aflora sentimentos muito alegres.

Jane Austen is a famous English writer who lived from 1775 to 1817.  She's the author of well-known stories such as "Pride and Prejudice", "Sense and Sensibility" and "Emma", which were also adapted into movies.
Jane Austen é uma famosa escritora inglesa que viveu de 1775 à 1817.  Ela é a autora de histórias bem conhecidas como "Orgulho e preconceito", "Razão e Sensibilidade" e "Emma", que também foram adaptadas para o cinema.

Today's Phrase

The sands of time is another way of referring to time. It is more poetic and is often used when talking about how time passes.

Examples:

"I am always ready to score the winning goal," said the footballer, dismissing those who said the sands of time are running out on his long career.

Plan for your retirement. The sands of time catch up with everyone.

Take note

To draw a line in the sand means to create an imaginary boundary or 'line' that cannot be crossed without causing problems.

Example:

Mary drew a line in the sand. If her son didn't do his homework on Monday, he would have to stay at home for a month.

Interesting fact

Much of Namibia is covered in desert. The country also has grasslands and a Central Plateau which is quite dry, large areas of which are used for livestock farming.

O livro de Viviane Mosé, "O homem que sabe", levanta discussões e faz refletir sobre a vida contemporânea e como evoluímos (ou não?) desde a idade das cavernas.  É filosofia direta e acessível embasada, em muitas partes, pelo pensamento de Nietzsche.

If you make a beeline for someone or something it means you go straight to them.

Examples:

As soon as the concert is over, we should make a beeline for the car, because I don't want to get stuck in traffic.

The tired and thirsty travellers made a beeline for the bar.

Take note

If you have a bee in your bonnet it doesn't literally mean that you have a bee in your hat. It means that you are obsessed by a thought or something that you want to do. You can't get it out of your mind.

Example:

John really has a bee in his bonnet about the environment. He's always talking about it.

Interesting fact

Bees perform an essential role by moving pollen and nectar from one flower to another. They pollinate the flowers and trees, which means fruits and vegetables can be created and can grow.

The Grand Budapest Hotel / Grande Hotel Budapeste

And about another writer... The movie "The Grand Budapest Hotel" shows a story, which passes between the first and the second World Wars, told by a writer who presents Gustave H, a former concierge in a, then really famous, hotel from the fictional Republic of Zubrowka, and Zero Moustafa, who is the lobby boy and becomes throughout the story Gustave's most trusted friend.  
It is funny in a very particular way: the characters' personal traits and gestures are really unique, reminding a little of Chaplin's grimace, but in a movie rich in sounds.  Watch it and enjoy it!
E sobre outro escritor... O filme "Grande Hotel Budapeste" mostra a história, que se passa entre a primeira e a segunda guerras mundiais, contada por um escritor que apresenta Gustave H, um antigo concierge num, então muito famoso, hotel da ficcional República de Zubrowka, e Zero Moustafa, que é um empregado faz-tudo e torna-se ao longo da história o amigo de mais confiança de Gustave. 
É divertido de uma maneira muito particular: as características e os trejeitos dos personagens são realmente únicos, lembrando um pouco as caretas de Chaplin, mas num filme rico em sons.  Assista e aproveite!
