Four tips to getting the best lighting in your home
Depending on what kind of mood you want to set in specific rooms, your lighting can be one of the first things you change to create the atmosphere you want.
Do you want to feel warm and cosy in the living room? Fresh and clean in the kitchen? Relaxed in the bathroom and magical in the garden? Then you ought to think about how the lighting in each section of your house heavily influences the type of mood you, your family and your guests are in and the type of experience they have at your abode.

Put your feet up

Today's Phrase

To put your feet up means to relax, especially by sitting with your feet supported above the ground.
Examples:
I like nothing better than putting my feet up after a hard day at work!

You work so hard. Come on, sit here and put your feet up!

Take note

Don't confuse with to find your feet, which means to become familiar with a situation or a place.
Example:
I'm new in town. I need time to find my feet.

Interesting fact

According to the British Synchronised Swimming website, competitive swimmers must be extremely fit, and completely at home in the water. When tested and compared with other Olympic athletes the results showed that synchronised swimmers ranked second only to long-distance runners in aerobic capacity.

Two heads are better than one

Today's Phrase

Two heads are better than one means that when two people work together they are more likely to solve a problem than one person doing it alone.
Examples:
I can help you to have this presentation ready tomorrow morning. Let's work together. Two heads are better than one.
My sister and I discussed lots of ideas to make mum's party a success. Two heads are better than one.

Take note

When you say two people or two teams are head-to-head, you mean that they are competing against each other.
Example:
Student rowers in the north-east of England are preparing to go head-to-head in the annual university boat race on the river Tyne.

Interesting fact

Turtles range right across the world's oceans, making them difficult animals to survey, but researchers say their numbers are falling fast. All seven species of sea turtle are now listed as either endangered or critically endangered.

As the writer of Pride and Prejudice, Emma and Sense and sensibility , Jane Austen, said "One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other."  But is it really necessary to understand them?  Is it simpler just to respect them, if they're causing no harm?
